Hi Sewists!
I’ve really been looking forward to sharing this make with you. *The fabric was sent to me free from Minerva Crafts – in exchange for a review which you can read On the Minerva blog… there’s a link further down too…
I received it before Christmas but took a little while to get around to sewing something up with it. It took booking a holiday to the sun to give me the motivation – and once I started sewing with it, I clearly couldn’t stop! Three pieces in all, using up pretty much every scrap of the 3m I was sent.
Admittedly, it’s a bit punchy all in one go, but it meant I didn’t get lost in the labyrinth of Luxor’s markets!
You can check out the full details here #TheHolidayTrinity where I also explain what patterns I used as well as a few shirt-construction tips.
The Holiday was back in February (hopefully not the last one I’ll have now that I am self employed!) and I was so grateful to have been able to leave the winter behind for a week of sunshine & sightseeing. Luxor was incredible – I’ve wanted to visit the Valley of the Kings since I was a little boy! It’s funny though, when you’re a sewist, no matter how great a holiday you’ve had, going home isn’t so tough as you know you’ll be pleased to see your sewing machine again! I’ve got a few projects in mind that will take a bit of concentration, so I’m hoping to get some time to knuckle down on those soon.
Until next time, Happy Sewing!
Notes to self:
- Maybe I should practice some outfit modelling poses?! 🤣
I LOVE a good summer set, and this is a great one! And I do practice poses, often while brushing my teeth. (And faces, but mainly funny faces…)
Thanks, I foresee more in my future! 🔮😆
So much fun! I enjoyed both blog posts. Great save after the little serger mishap. I think most of us have been there. That’s when the “I won’t let this project defeat me” spirit kicks in. Enjoy wearing these. They are so joyous to behold.
Thank you! I guess I was lucky with the serger, it could have been much worse!
I can’t wait for the summer to kick in!
Looks good, yes very punchy. I think I’d wear the shorts though.
I tried to follow the #holytrinity link but it only came up with the search page on the minerva website blogs section. Wasn’t sure what to do next…
😎 There definitely can be holidays when you’re self employed but you have to save/allocate for them. I get annoyed with my friends saying ‘it costs me £XXX in lost earnings’.
When you get paid on a job put 10-15% away into the holiday fund.
Like in employment we’d all get paid more if we were only paid for the time we did rather than also holiday / pension etc 🤔
Hi, try the link further down, I just checked it and it worked for me…?
Yes, absolutely, I’m feeding into my holiday fund already!
